The PPSR search certificate as a PDF, on screen and by email, with the secured party's details.
A ship on the Australian register is searched by its official number instead of a HIN.
The HIN (hull identification number) is the boat's own serial number. It is stamped into the transom, the flat back of the hull, or on a plate there, usually on the starboard (right) side near the top. A jet ski has one too, at the back of the hull.
Most HINs have about 14 characters, such as AU-ABC12345D404; older boats have 12. Type it exactly as it appears, and check it against the papers the seller gives you.
The check covers the hull only. An outboard motor and a boat trailer are registered separately, and the PPSR doesn't record whether a boat is stolen or damaged.
Buying the trailer too? Check it by its rego or VIN: trailer PPSR check.
